What is Identity Monitoring and how is it different from Credit Monitoring?
Identity Monitoring is a service that monitors non-credit data and alerts you when your identity is at risk or being used - potentially without your permission. Conversely, Credit Monitoring is the monitoring of your credit file in order to detect any activity or change. Credit monitoring was developed to help consumers find errors in their credit report before applying for a loan. Credit monitoring can take up to 90 days to report a change to a credit file, depending on the reporting business and bureau. This identity monitoring solution provides more comprehensive coverage than credit monitoring and detection of changes takes a fraction of the time.
Why do I need Identity Monitoring?
Our Identity Monitoring solution detects stolen personally identifiable information and compromised confidential data. At any point in time, our technology is monitoring hundreds of thousands of websites and millions of data points using a variety of data gathering techniques, such as chat room monitoring, site crawling and scraping capabilities and forum extraction.
